The Mechanical Engineering Department is one of the oldest in the University. The Department offers up-to-date training in Mechanical Engineering for the nation’s youth from the basic training to the middle and higher level manpower. The deparment is headed by Mr. Bernard Aboagye
Vision
The Department vision is to produce highly qualified high and middle level manpower in the field of mechanical engineering through hands-on practical teaching methodologies and industrial practice.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Department is to provide training to students in order to acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills in Mechanical Engineering at the non-tertiary and tertiary levels to meet the demand of industry.
Objectives
The objective of the Department is:
- To train students to acquire skills to manufacture and service engines and equipment in the field of mechanical and automobile engineering.
- Provide opportunities for continuous professional capacity building for technicians and non-technicians in the mechanical and automobile engineering industries.

Projects
The Department gives support to the various Departments and the Central Administration on Welding, fabrication and servicing of equipment and tools.
We also undertake repairs and servicing of vehicles of the institution and members of staff.
The Department also plans to set up a production unit in Mechanical Engineering and Automobile Engineering for the production of simple agricultural and industrial tools and machinery as well as rehabilitation of broken-down equipment and maintenance of vehicles.
The Department is about to start a Driving School to train potential drivers professionally.
