Pro VC: CONSTRUCTION OF FOOT BRIDGE ACROSS THE SUNYANI-KUMASI HIGHWAY

The Pro Vice-Chancellor of Sunyani Technical University, Dr. J. S. Korantwi-Barimah has appealed to the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Lawyer Asumah-Cheremeh to as a matter of urgency impress upon the Ghana Highways Authority to construct a foot bridge across the Sunyani-Kumasi highway in front of the University to prevent the frequent knock-down of students when crossing the road to and from the university.

He was speaking in an interview on GTV Life Morning Show from Sunyani on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He said, the appeal was made during a courtesy call on the minister in his office by the University Management to welcome him on his assumption to office as Brong Ahafo Regional Minister.

He said the university is concerned about the frequent knock-down of students who attempt crossing the highway, adding that drivers have been ignoring the traffic lights even when it has signaled the stop sign.

Dr. Korantwi-Barimah said a similar appeal was made to the former president, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama during the commissioning of the state of the art four-storey building containing lecture halls and offices at the university in Sunyani. The president promised to see to the construction of the foot bridge but because of the change in government after the 2016 elections that promise could not be fulfilled.
