The Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Kwame Baa Mensa, led a delegation to Sunyani Technical University (STU) on Wednesday, 12th November 2025, to discuss strategic collaboration towards sports development in the region. He was accompanied by Ms. Ruth Quarcoo (Regional Administrator), Mr. Anthony Adotei (Basketball Coach), and Ms. Esther Owusu Ansah (Principal Executive Officer).
The meeting highlighted key areas for partnership, including strengthening STU’s role as a major stakeholder in regional sports activities. The NSA team emphasized Bono Region’s strong track record in producing top-tier athletes and stressed the need to nurture additional sports disciplines beyond football. Discussions also touched on the upcoming GHATUSA Games, during which the NSA proposed adding a representative to STU’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC). They further invited the University to participate in the Regional Sports Committee Inauguration and Mega Walk scheduled for Saturday, 22nd November 2025.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ing. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, reaffirmed STU’s readiness to host the 2027 GHATUSA Games and called for support in ensuring the timely completion of facilities such as the AstroTurf and tartan tracks. He appealed to government, through the NSA, to consider constructing a modern football stadium for the Bono Region. The Vice-Chancellor also confirmed the inclusion of an NSA representative on the LOC.
