GIZ/MOVE-ComCashew Project Holds Awareness Programme at STU

Sunyani Technical University (STU) hosted a two-day awareness programme by the GIZ/MOVE-ComCashew project at the University’s main auditorium, aimed at promoting skills development and opportunities within the cashew value chain.

The programme, organized in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, brought together lecturers, students, and key stakeholders to engage with representatives of the project on the relevance of agribusiness skills and digital learning platforms in enhancing employability and entrepreneurship.

The visiting team was received by the Head of Department (HOD) of Agriculture, alongside faculty members, who expressed appreciation for the initiative and its potential to enrich teaching, learning, and research within the Department. Students were also given the opportunity to interact with the team and gain insights into emerging opportunities in the cashew industry.

The Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor of STU, Professor Evans Zoya Kpamma, was present at the event and underscored the importance of such collaborations in advancing the University’s mandate of providing practical and industry-relevant education. He commended the GIZ/MOVE-ComCashew project for its efforts in building capacity and promoting sustainable agribusiness development across the region.

The awareness programme highlighted the e-MOVE e-learning platform, which offers flexible, self-paced courses in cashew production, processing, marketing, and agribusiness. Participants were encouraged to take advantage of the platform to enhance their knowledge and skills for improved productivity and economic growth.

The two-day engagement formed part of broader efforts to strengthen partnerships between academia and industry, while equipping students with the competencies required to thrive in modern agricultural value chains.

The University reaffirmed its commitment to fostering collaborations that support innovation, skills development, and national development.
